Our Services
Services | Dr. Schwartz does comprehensive examinations for adults, children and infants, contact lens examinations, as well as medical eye evaluations.
Diabetes is increasing significantly in the Baby Boomer, as well as early age groups. An annual dilated diabetic ocular evaluation is an essential part of managing diabetes. Any hemorrhages or deposits found in the retina can be a sign of vascular problems elsewhere in the body. Dr. Schwartz sends a report as well as fundus photographs of the back of the eye to the patient's internist, endocrinologist, or primary physician.
Treating red eyes is another important skill that Doctors of Optometry perform. A red eye can be due to a conjunctivitis, corneal problem, iritis, foreign body, or many other causes. It is important for a patient to be checked for any redness or discomfort of the eye.
Visual Fields are performed to assess the peripheral field of vision. Problems such as glaucoma, stroke, brain lesions, temporary vision loss, and lighter flashes are all reasons why Dr. Schwartz performs this test.
Retinal Photographs are often taken to keep a visual record of all conditions that are affecting the retina.
Glaucoma testing using tonometry, ophthalmoscopy, and visual fields is routinely performed during a vision evaluation. An O.C.T Scan can further help with diagnosis. Dr. Schwartz co-manages patients who have had LASIK cataract removal and other refractive procedures performed by ocular surgeons.
Contact lenses are a very popular supplement to wearing eye glasses. There are so many new materials and types of contact lenses available. Contact lenses for adults over age 40 are the faster growing area at contact lense practices. Progressive contact lenses, as well as monovision designs are enabling Dr. Schwartz to fit many patients who have reading difficulty as well as distance visual problems.
A large section of eye wear is available at the office. Frames from budget line to Coach, Ted Baker, Nike, Joseph Abboud, Revlon, and Flexon are available.
Through our Kids Welcome Here program, as well as Infant See program, many parents are having their infants, toddlers, and pre-schoolers seen for a thorough visual evaluation from ages 1 year through age 6. Remember that screenings through a pediatrician or school nurse are no substitution for a thorough eye examination by a professional.
Dr. Schwartz has a specialty in aviation vision. He is quite skilled in the particular vision skills and unique problems encountered by pilots. Dr. Schwartz volunteers time every year at the annual EAA Air Venture in Oshkosh Wisconsin every summer, as well as at AOPA annual meetings.
